This provides our guests with a rare opportunity to watch the grizzly bears up close feeding on salmon. Photographers and camera buffs can get close up to view bears fishing and interacting. Viewing stands available late August to mid October.
Grizzly Bear Lodge is located in the middle of BC's Rainforest Coast on Knight Inlet, Canada's longest fjord. The scenery is spectacular and so is the grizzly bear viewing.
Grizzly Bear Lodge is small and intimate, assuring personal service and attention to your needs and expectations. We only accommodate 8 to 10 guests at a time.
Grizzly Bear Lodge is very remote so access is by seaplane only.
The remote environment, climate, the spawning rivers that flow into Knight Inlet and the natural protection provided by the mountains, forest and the Knight Inlet Fjord, cause the area to attract and concentrate the most diverse and abundant wildlife available in North America.
After a day of exciting and rewarding grizzly bear tours, we serve gourmet dinners to our guests. Visit Grizzly Bear Safari for grizzly tours and whale watching details.

BC's Premier Grizzly Bear Tour
and Grizzly Bear Watching
on Knight Inlet British Columbia
We have been enjoying some exceptional wildlife viewing so far in 2013. The Grizzly Bears have been abundant in Knight Inlet and the surrounding areas. The bears are still feeding on the sedge grass as well as on the rocky beaches. Salmon berries and elderberries are ripening in the forest adding another food source to their diet. Black Bears have been sighted frequently as well, rolling over boulders at low tide in search of a sea food snack.
The Resident Orca showed up in Johnstone Strait on July 6 and have been spotted several times since. As the salmon continue to pass through I expect that more Orca will continue to arrive. Humpback Whales have been abundant since our season began and their numbers also continue to increase. Pacific White Side Dolphins, Porpoise, Seals, Sea Lions, Eagles and marine birds have all been regulars on our marine trips.
As July moves into August the first of the spawning salmon will be returning to our local rivers. As the number of fish build the Grizzly Bears will start to switch from grass to fish as they try and put on weight for their fall hibernation. The Whales will also be feeding heavily on fish in the Strait. I hope to see many of you at the lodge this season.
